tandpfun/wardrobe — Your clothes, extracted and organized with gpt-image.
What is the idea?
A self-hosted app that extracts clothes from photos with gpt-image, organizes them into a wardrobe, and generates modeled outfit photos of you; ships Codex skills for bulk import and outfit generation.
Who would use it, and what do they get?
Pure consumer product: a closet that shows outfits on your own body before you buy or pack.
Why would anyone bother?
A person who owns more clothes than they can picture at seven in the morning. What they walk away with is a lookbook of themselves in outfits they already own — no shopping, no shoot.
What is missing today?
Only geeks can use it — npm, .env, API key, reference photo — while the 'see it on me' generation feature is exactly what existing closet apps (Whering, Acloset, Indyx) don't do well yet.
What makes this one different?
Skip the closet-manager race; sell the one magic moment — upload 20 photos of your clothes, get a modeled lookbook of yourself — as a paid mobile flow.
What is the sharpest thing about it?
'See it on me' used to need a body model and a fitting pipeline. Single-reference-photo generation turned it into one prompt this year, and it is precisely the feature the existing closet apps (Whering, Acloset, Indyx) still do not have.
What could kill it?
Closet apps are a graveyard of low-retention consumer products, incumbents already own the non-technical audience, and per-image generation costs eat thin subscription margins; 1 contributor, no commits since launch day.
Who pays, and for what?
digital-closet apps (Whering, Acloset) already charge subscriptions on far less; add affiliate outfit commerce and resale listings on top of closet data and try-on becomes the front end of a shopping funnel.
What is the main risk?
Today it needs your own OpenAI key and a reference photo — any incumbent is one mobile app away from the same feature, and per-image generation cost squeezes consumer-subscription margins.
What did real people actually say?
Verbatim from the public sources linked above, not paraphrased: “Many other similar apps have a 'recommendations' or 'combinations' feature… combined with generated images of the combination of items on the model would be amazing.” — github “服装搭配的APP,把自己的衣服全都录入,ai生成穿搭照片的APP” — xiaohongshu comment, 67 likes / 18 replies (山东) — 「大家觉得市面上还缺哪种APP?」1.7万赞/6097评论 “我觉得可以给女生出一个记录衣服的app,记录我现在有多少件白衬衫,白T,牛仔裤,并且可以一键穿衣推荐” — xiaohongshu comment, 20 likes — same note; a reply under it reads 「哈哈哈哈哈哈哈 我需要」
How much work is it?
about two months of work
