What is the idea?

PaperTodo is a minimalist Windows desktop sticky note tool that allows users to create independent notes and to-do lists directly on their desktop without any management interface. It supports Markdown for enhanced note-taking.

Who would use it, and what do they get?

A Windows user who keeps a paper sticky note stuck to the monitor bezel. What they get is that same note on the screen — quiet, always visible, no account, no sync, no streak, nothing that nags. The tracker's own users are ordinary two-monitor office people asking to drag a note to the other screen, not developers filing feature requests.

Why would anyone bother?

Choose PaperTodo for its simplicity and focus on immediate usability, unlike other note-taking apps that require complex setups and account management.

What is missing today?

The gap is not that only geeks can use it — the opposite. It is already simple, and its tracker is full of ordinary two-monitor users who cannot move a note to the other screen. Every mainstream note app walked the other way, into accounts, sync and workspaces, and left the desk itself empty.

What makes this one different?

Do not sell the note; sell what happens to it afterwards. The one thing desktop stickies have never done is remember — a note you scribbled three months ago on a monitor you no longer own is simply gone. Ship the same silent paper plus 'everything I ever scribbled on this machine, searchable, never uploaded'. (English): r/Windows and r/productivity threads asking for a sticky-note app with no account.

What is the sharpest thing about it?

Each note operates as an independent window, enabling quick access and interaction without unnecessary clicks or distractions.

What could kill it?

This is a free utility in a category where free has won for thirty years: Windows ships Sticky Notes, and nobody has ever paid for a sticky note. The tracker's request list is also unbounded polish — per-monitor placement, right-click menus, capsule behaviour — which is how a small tool quietly becomes a large one without ever becoming a business.

Who pays, and for what?

Individual users seeking a distraction-free note-taking experience pay for the ability to jot down thoughts and tasks instantly, without the overhead of traditional apps.

What is the main risk?

Established productivity tools like Microsoft OneNote or Evernote dominate the market, posing a challenge for user adoption due to their extensive feature sets.

What did real people actually say?

Verbatim from the public sources linked above, not paraphrased: “… — github “… — github
